Accused News Anchor Rob Morrison Update: WCBS-TV News Man Threatened to Kill Wife During Arrest

By

WCBS-TV news anchor Rob Morrison threatened to kill his wife, also a news anchor for the same channel, after his arrest Sunday on charges of choking her, reported the Associated Press citing a court document.

A Darien police official wrote in a document that Morrison "threatened that if he was released from police custody, he would kill his wife."

The Associated Press further reported that the document was presented in Superior Court in Stamford, Ct. Morrison was ordered to stay 100 yards away from his wife Ashley, except at the workplace.

Morrison was arrested on charges of second-degree strangulation, threatening and disorderly conduct. He was granted bail on a $100,000 bond. His lawyer, Robert Skovgurad, said a plea would come "at the appropriate time," against the allegations.

"I did not choke my wife. I've raised my hands to my wife," said Morrison outside courthouse, according to the Associated Press.

In the meantime, the New York City police informed that they were called 11 times, out of which 10 calls were made to complain about verbal disputes and harassment, between 2004 and 2009 to the couple's West 90th Street home. It did not lead to any arrests.

According to a statement released by the Morrison family on Twitter, the allegations were "greatly exaggerated."

"Rob and Ashley Morrison are cooperating fully with the authorities to insure that all of the information necessary to properly evaluate this unfortunate incident is made available," the statement read."The Morrisons are confident that a full review of this matter will show that the allegations have been greatly exaggerated."

Morrison is due back in Stamford Court on March 26.
