Eagle's co-founding member, Glenn Frey dies at the age of 67 due to health problems. The rock band's publicist confirmed the passing of the member of the legendary American rock band. His co-member, Don Henley and other artists in the music industry expressed their tributes to the iconic founding member of the band.
According to Time, Frey passed away on Monday, January 18 in New York City after his "courageous" fight for several weeks with rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis and pneumonia. The LA rock band announced the sad new in a statement posted on the band's official website.
The statement follows, "The Frey family would like to thank everyone who joined Glenn to fight this fight and hoped and prayed for his recovery. "Words can neither describe our sorrow, nor our love and respect for all that he has given to us, his family, the music community & millions of fans worldwide."
Rock band Eagles member, Don Henley also released a statement regarding the deceased member. "We are all in a state of shock, disbelief and profound sorrow. He added, "I'm not sure I believe in fate, but I know that crossing paths with Glenn Lewis Frey in 1970 changed my life forever, and it eventually had an impact on the lives of millions of other people all over the planet.
In November, the legendary American rock band cancelled their Kennedy Center Honors ceremony from December to the following year after Frey had suffered intestinal problems and will require major surgery, according to Rolling Stone.
Frey along with the other members of the Eagles, Don Henley, Randy Meisner and Bernie Leadon was formed as a backup band for the popular American female singer, Linda Ronstadt in the early 1970s, CNN reported. Popular singers, Carole King, Huey Lewis, Travis Tritt and many artists expressed their condolences, tributes and gratitude to Frey on social media, Twitter.
In the early and mid 1970s, Frey and his band member lead in the music industry. He and his co-member Henley, together wrote most of the band's hit songs, such as Best of My Love, Lyin' Eyes, One of These Nights, Desperado and Hotel California. Frey also famously worked together with Browne to write the Eagles' first hit single, "Take It Easy."
