Country singer Mindy McCready was found dead at a Heber Springs, Arkansas residence. She was 37.
E! Online reported a source close to the singer said McCready shot herself and her dog. The singer's neighbors called the police after they heard gunshots at her house. The website further reported her father stayed with her that morning before he left for Florida.
"At 3:31 PM, Sunday, February 17th Deputies from the Cleburne County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a report of gun shots fired in the area of 1132 Fox Chase Drive in Heber Springs," The Cleburne County Sheriff's office said in a statement. "Officers arrived on the scene at 3:58 PM and discovered the body of 37 year old Melinda Gayle McCready on the front porch of the residence at 1132 Fox Chase. Ms. McCready was pronounced dead at the scene from what appears to be a single self-inflicted gunshot wound. At this time family members have been notified of the incident. Ms. Mcready will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and the matter will be fully investigated."
McCready attempted suicide twice before and also made went to rehab centers several time.She appeared in 2010 on the VH1 reality show "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew", reported TMZ.
Almost a month ago, McCready's boyfriend, David Wilson, passed away and cause for the death is unknown. An investigation into his death is still ongoing, reported The Wall Street Journal.
"He was my life. We were each other's life," McCready said to NBC about Wilson. "I just keep telling myself that the more suffering that I go through the greater character I'll have."
The singer was reportedly devastated after Wilson's death.
McCready was treated for mental-health and alcohol-abuse and was also denied of the custody of her two children by a judge on Feb. 6, reported TMZ.com She was released two days later.
