Series creator Lizzy Weiss posted on Twitter in early January a photo of some of the cast members on the first shooting day of "Switched at Birth" Season 5. While fans know that it will be some time before the season premiere airs, it was great seeing them all together again.
The fourth season ended with a big time jump that had Bay and Daphne moving to China. It has not been made clear if they remained connected with the other characters at that point. The last scene of the season finale had Bay receiving a call from a mysterious person and she did not look happy about it reports Ecumenical News.
There are a lot of speculations as to what the call was about. One theory is that the caller might be telling Bay about the possibility of John and Kathryn finally calling it quits according to Crossmap. If this is correct, Bay and Daphne will be forced to go back to help them keep their marriage from falling apart. Although a divorce is a serious thing, will it be enough for Bay and Daphne to rush back to Kansas?
Another speculation is that of Lily and Toby's new baby, Carlton, having complications. In December, there were rumors that the cliffhanger was about the possible death of John Kennish from a heart attack that was brought on by his financial problems. Last season, John was shown having a minor heart problem that had many fans worried that the character will be killed off. With the time jump and the characters becoming adults, the show is open to storylines that were not possible during earlier seasons.
IB Times reports that the "Switched at Birth" Season 5 premiere will be fittingly titled "The Call" since it will be taking off from the call in last season's finale. A call that might affect the life that Bay and Daphne had made for themselves in China. Weiss will direct the episode which she revealed when she posted a photo of the script in her Instagram account.
Who do you think called Bay and what is the reason for the call? Will it be enough to make her leave China with Daphne? Tell us what you think in the section below. "Switched at Birth" Season 5 is expected to premiere this April on Freeform (formerly ABC Family).
