Fifth-graders' Murder Plot Thwarted: Juvenile Boys Had List of Targets, Semi-Automatic Gun and Knife (VIDEO)

Two fifth-graders were both held on $100,000 bond each after being charged with conspiracy to commit murder at their school in Washington state, according to UPI.com.

Court documents released on Wednesday gave details about how and why two fifth grade boys planned to kill a girl classmate, and potentially more. Their plan was thwarted on Thursday when another student at the school involved alerted a school employee. The incident happened at the Fort Colville Elementary School in Colville, Washington, and was reported nationally on CNN.

The boys, aged 10 and 11, were expected to be formally charged in juvenile court with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, possession of a firearm and witness tampering for allegedly bringing a stolen gun and a knife to school and threatening to kill a number of classmates,

They reportedly stole a semi-automatic gun, an ammunition clip and a knife to use against their victims. According to their own reports with authorities, they said there was one girl in particular they were after though there were six more students they also wanted to kill. Their murder plot entailed planning to get the girl off-campus alone.

According to police reports, "the older boy then would stab her with the 3.25-inch knife while the younger boy would use the .45-caliber Remington 1911 handgun to keep away responders. They share that the younger boy dated the girl for a while, and the older boy felt she had been picking on him."

According to CNN, the boys took the knife and gun to school, promising another student $80 to keep the plot a secret. As the boys were being taken to the courthouse, the older boy was allegedly overheard telling the younger boy that he was going to kill the person who told authorities about the weapons.

"I don't care; when I get out of jail I'm going to come back and kill them," he allegedly said.

Sources indicate the handgun was taken from an older brother's room, even though he also is a juvenile. The fifth-graders' murder plot had apparently been in development for some time.

The judge set a Feb. 20 hearing to discover whether the boys had the capacity to form criminal intent, Deputy Stevens County Prosecutor Lech Radzimski said.
