Samsung has been confirmed doing beta tests of Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow for Galaxy S6 Edge. This new move initiated by the tech giant prods reports that official release will begin on February 1, 2015.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones are now reported anew to get the official over-the-air (OTA) update of Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow by the first week of February, just right in the bracket schedule the South Korean titan had promised a couple of months ago. With this imminent roll out of the first Marshmallow version, major mobile networks in the United States like Verizon Wireless, US Cellular, T-Mobile, Sprint and AT&T are expected to release as well the update as early possible.
The device manufacturer must be working in the lab right now for the device to get the promised update by the set schedule. Samsung has been changing its timeline for software updates once in while which drive some users' nuts. The majority would flock to community forums to vent out their ire for overdue updates.
Meanwhile, Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow is expected to bring in Marshmallow's original set of new features and improvements, plus a new set of emojis and a bunch of security patches.
Beta versions are larger in size so users those who want their phones updates should free up storage space. Samsung also would like to remind everyone that update schedule can be installed at 2 to 5 in the morning. The phone will restart itself after update is being installed. Afterwards, a full screen image of apps being optimized will be shown.
The first ever Marshmallow update primarily brings major tweaks on the edge screen of the phone, improved visibility of notification panel icons, more quick settings toggles for Private Mode in the status bar, minor tweaks on how the phone vibrates when locked with a fingerprint, like the phone will only vibrate when the fingerprint is not recognized.
Marshmallow will also bring Doze, redesigned app drawer, Google Now on Tap, simpler volume controls, fingerprint and USB Type-C support, better app permissions and so many others.
