3 Killed in Denver Shooting: Two Children Dead, Another in Critical Condition [Video]

Three people, including two children under 10 years old and a woman, were killed after an apparent shooting a house in northeast Denver, police said on Wednesday morning.

Another child is in critical condition, according to the Associated Press. Initial reports said the shootings appear isolated, and no indication of a shooter on the loose, said police Major Crimes Commander Ron Saunier. The house where the shooting apparently took place is cordoned off while the injured were taken to a nearby hospital, according to the Voice of Russia.

The Denver neighborhood is largely an industrial area surrounded by warehouses and a trucking terminal, the Associated Press reported. After the shooting, members of a nearby Providence Bible Church gathered for prayer.

"Basically we pray for the community," said Jose Rojas, pastor of the Church said. "This is the horror of the whole country. There are all these shootings. I think it's too much, too much to see innocent people being killed."

The Colorado Legislature recently considered stricter gun laws, as a response to a spate of nationwide shootings and as President Barack Obama has tried to rally national support for an assault weapons ban. Colorado has experienced other highly publicized shootings over the years, including a mass shooting at an Aurora movie theater in July, which killed 12 people.
