'Divergent: Allegiant' movie spoilers: Tris survives, has twins with Four in rumored alternate ending

By

There's been a swirl of rumors that fans would be able to witness an alternate ending to the movie adaptation of "Allegiant," the third instalment of Veronica Roth's young adult fiction novel "Divergent". Reports suggest that the movie's creators have made substantial changes to the film that might make Tris survive and continue a happy life with Four.

"Allegiant" has been confirmed for a two-part release, following the path of its YA predecessors "Hunger Games" and "Twilight". The first movie bears the original title of the book, while the name of the second and final saga has been reworked to "Divergent: Ascendant".

Fans of the film have been asking Veronica Roth to adopt changes to the "Divergent" movies that will allow Tris and Four to stay together after the war, Movie News Guide reported. They even took to Change.org to petition for the twist.

Some also suggest that an alternate ending where all our favorite characters survive would make it easier to helm spin-offs for the movie franchise.

Theo James, who plays Four in the "Divergent" series, is also in on the plot. According to Fashion & Style, previous reports say James teased in an interview that an alternate ending is in the works, in which Tris and Four will have twins named Bertie and Bernadette.

Meanwhile, the tagline for the last two movies is also quite suggestive. "Allegiant" bears the tagline "Break the boundaries of your world" since the story focuses on Tris and Four's journey beyond the wall of their city. The tagline for "Ascendant", on the other hand, suspiciously reads "The end is never what you expect."

While it's tempting for fans to delve on the possibility of seeing Tris and Four live on to have a family of their own, Veronica Roth has shed light on the very heart behind Tris' death.

In a previous interview, Roth said that Tris' ultimate sacrifice was "necessary," and that it was a culmination of the values "her parents were trying to teach her in Abnegation."

Meanwhile, with the "Allegiant" movie being her last two films for the franchise, Shailene Woodley has set her sights on new projects. Movie Pilot reported that Woodley will star in an upcoming HBO TV series titled "Big Little Lies". She will take on the role of Jane, a single mother whose son is being perpetrated for bullying. "Big Little Lies" will also star Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman.

"Divergent: Allegiant" will hit theaters on March 18.
