Jodi Arias Secret Relationship Hidden by Mormon Boyfriend Travis Alexander; Argue Self Defense

By

Thursday's day in court for accused murderer Jodi Arias was certainly not meant for the faint of heart, but rather for the most lascivious of minds. The day included court testimony that Arias was kept away from her dead lover Travis Alexander's Mormon friends, and that their affair was kept by secret by him.

Arias is on trial for murdering Alexander in 2008. According to news reports, Thursday's testimony dealt with her defense's argument that she killed him in self-defense, and that he was a sexual deviant who treated Arias as his "dirty little secret."

The defense hopes to prove that Alexander's odd behavior - and fetishes- depicted a cruel, controlling, abusive and sex-obsessed liar.

Arias, 32, dated Alexander for a year and continued to have a sexual relationship for a year longer. Her attorneys claim that Alexander cruelty contributed to Arias out of self-defense.

Daniel Freeman took to the stand, describing his friendship to Arias and Alexander. At the hearing, Freeman testified about a trip to the Grand Canyon that Alexander invited him on in 2007, so that he could act as an apparent sexual buffer between Alexander and Arias.

"I don't know that I can say he didn't want to be alone with her, but he liked when I was there and ... They weren't as physical," Freeman said in court.

Other witnesses have said that Alexander cheated on other women he dated with Arias, and that he lied to his friends and family about their relationship.

Arias faces the possibility of the death penalty, if convicted.
