Janet Jackson has released an official statement slamming rumors purporting she has a throat concert. In light of Jackson's postponement of her Unbreakable World Tour due to a medical emergency, the singer has took to social media to keep her fans from worrying.
On December 24th, the 49-year-old music artist had to postpone her seventh concert tour due to a medical issue. Jackson didn't elaborate on her condition at the time but only vaguely explaining, "I need you to know, I learned today, from my doctors that I must have surgery soon," she wrote. "It breaks my heart to tell you that I am forced to postpone the Unbreakable Tour until the spring." On the end part of her statement she says she'll have no further comment.
This intriguing announcement then ignited speculations that Jackson was undergoing tests for a growth on her vocal chords that could be cancerous. The initial report cited an unnamed source, and other media outlets have then picked up the story, as per Amsterdam News reports.
Following the rumors that have been sensationalized, Jackson was compelled to address the issue despite her initial decision not to give further comments. On her Twitter account, the first post revealed a message from Janet's team stating, "It was Janet's wish not to make any further comments about her health, however, because of the great concern from around the world, Janet will be releasing a personal message shortly."
Moments later, Jackson posted a two-minute clip of her song "The Great Forever" with a caption "From my lips..." On the end part of the video she leaves a message saying, "The rumors are untrue. I do not have cancer."
Also, Jackson revealed that she is recovering and that her doctors have guaranteed that she'll be able to continue her concert. As it is, the "No Sleep" songstress still did not provide further details on her condition and simply preferred to give the good news.
This is the second time Jackson has reportedly taken a medical break on this tour.
