LG G3 Android 6.0 Marshmallow Release Update for AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular & Verizon

Android 6.0 Marshmallow roll out to LG G3 has been confirmed to begin in the coming days. Mobile carriers are now preparing the official release of the new build to the device.

AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, US Cellular and Verizon are expected to roll out the official Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to their LG G3 units very soon as Poland kicked off the release in December 2015. The update should come to the carrier versions shortly after the unlocked or retails units.

LG had already released Marshmallow to the unlocked versions of G Stylo and G4. While Sprint is the sole carrier yet to roll out the update to its versions of the device.

Android 6.0 should come to the LG G3 smartphones any time soon before the month ends. In LG's software page, a Marshmallow source code had been made available to the device. This gives a leeway to the mobile operators to work out with the software.

Along with G3, other devices geared up for the upgrade include V10 and G Flex 2. Late last year, the smartphone was already said to get Android 6.0 before that year ends. However, due to unknown reasons, the roll out did not push through.

In Poland, the usual roll out ground for Android updates, G3 smartphones with model number D855 have already been updated. The release was done in phases.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow offers the following features and improvements:

  • Doze Mode. This new feature screens phone and puts into a deep sleep when unused to prolong battery life.
  • Now on Tap. Google Now gets better function. Press holding the home button will show up Google Now and exhibits information based on current status or activity.
  • Android Pay. By just a simple tap, bring up Android Pay and make purchases without the need to launch another app.
  • Direct share. Share photos, links, news, files, etc. with selected contacts with ease and quickness.
  • Simpler volume controls. Control ringtone and media volume spontaneously.

LG G3 is a 2014 flagship smartphone. It wears a 5.5-inch screen with 1440 by 2560 pixels resolution. The systems runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset with 2 GB of RAM, expandable 16 GB internal storage and 13 MP front camera.
