Ryan Lanza, Brother of Sandy Hook Elementary School, Says his Facebook Account was Hacked

By

The New York Post published an interview on Saturday of Ryan Lanza, brother of gunman who opened fire at the Sandy Hook Elementary school on Dec. 14, now Ryan released a statement through a family representative saying that his account was hacked by an imposter and the interview published was not given by him.

This is second incident in which the media has mistook the identity of 24-year-old, who currently resides in Hoboken, New Jersey. Initially, when the shooting first took place, the media had identified Ryan as a possible suspect, after which Ryan took to the social media site Facebook to clarify the rumors.

In an interview published by the New York Post, the imposter thought to be Ryan, told the paper via his Facebook page, "I am a victim...I [lost] my mom and brother," as reported by Yahoo News.

Later a family spokesman told the media "an imposter is behind Ryan Lanza's Facebook page and that Ryan did not post the messages," as reported by Yahoo News.

On Dec 14, the brother of Ryan, 20-year-old Adam Lanza opened fire at the Sandy Hook Elementary school in Newtown Connecticut, killing 26 people, of which 20 were children of ages six and seven. Before he made way to the school he shot his mother, 52-year-old Nancy Lanza.

According to police reports, the shootings were committed with four semi-automated rifles, all legally registered under his mother's name. Police say that they are still investigating the case for a motive.

After committing the shooting, Lanza shot himself before the first 911 dispatch arrived on location.
