British Lawmakers to Debate whether to Ban Donald Trump from Entering the UK

By

The recent actions and statements of presidential candidate Donald Trump have led to many issues. It was just lately that the British lawmakers are setting aside time to debate and talk about to ban Donald Trump from entering the UK or not.

According to The Washington Post, the schedule to debate on the issue regarding the banning of Donald Trump is already confirmed. The decision was the result of the petition that was signed by more than 560,000 people.

It stands out that for the petition to be heard, it only required more than 100,000 signatures to legally prompt a parliamentary debate, in which the petition to ban Trump clearly meets. Meanwhile, a separate petition contrasting to banning Trump only has 40,000 signatures, as further noted by the same post.

In a separate post published by CNN, it indicated that the debate has been scheduled for January 18 in Westminster Hall. During the debate, any member of the Parliament is authorized to participate or allowed to witness the talks.

Furthermore, the petition was based on how their country has already banned entry to people for "hate speech." And the same values should apply to everyone who wishes to enter their country.

Based on history, it wasn't just Trump that has experienced the negative response of the British community. Quartz disclosed earlier that UK has already banned foreign nationals, such as American athlete Mike Tyson, French comedian Dieudonné M'bala M'bala,

In line with this, the UK government released a statement reaffirming that Home Secretary Theresa May has the authority to "exclude a non-European Economic Area national from the UK if she considers their presence in the UK to be nonconductive to the public good."

The Home Secretary further said that coming to the UK is a privilege and not a right, and she aims using the powers bestowed on her prevent the entry to the UK for those who seek to harm the society and does not adhere to our basic principles.

Even though the debate is yet to be scheduled, the negative impact that Trump has declared is affecting his future foreign relations with UK. Also, the possible establishing of strong relations with this country lies on a narrow thread.
