'Storage Wars' Star David Hester Says Show is Fake, Files Lawsuit

By

"Storage Wars" star David Hester announced in a lawsuit filed Tuesday that he was fired from the popular reality TV show after complaining that the reality show is staged.

Hester says the show fired him in retaliation days after he complained about it to network and production company executives. Hester is seeking more than $750,000 in his wrongful termination, breach of contract and unfair business practices lawsuit.

RadarOnline says the lawsuit filed by Los Angeles attorney Marty Singer accuses the show of illegal activity and of deceiving the public. "A&E regularly plants valuable items or memorabilia," the lawsuit read. Hester's suit claims producers have added a BMW Mini and newspapers chronicling Elvis Presley's death to lockers in order to build drama for the show.

A&E Television Network declined comment on the lawsuit but maintains that the reality show is not fake. Hester, known as "The Mogul" on the show, has been buying abandoned storage units and re-selling their contents for 26 years,

"Storage Wars" depicts buyers having only a few moments to look into an abandoned unit before deciding on whether to bid on it at auction. The lawsuit claims some of the auction footage on the show is staged.

"Storage Wars" is one of the top-ranked Cable shows since its 2010 debut, according to Nielsen ratings.
