Donald Fagen, the frontman of the band Steely Dan, was arrested at his New York City home earlier this week after a domestic assault case has been reported. Accordingly, he and his wife had a physical altercation.
In a report by Rolling Stone, Fagen and his wife, musician Libby Titus, were first involved in a verbal dispute. At one point, he then grabbed her by the arm and pushed her. A spokesperson for the New York Police Department added that Titus fell and bruised her arm.
As per a criminal complaint, Fagen allegedly pushed Titus into a marble window frame. Aside from the bruising on her arm, it also caused swelling and substantial pain, ABC News reported.
Fagen has been charged with misdemeanor assault and harassment. He was also released from jail with no bail after he was arraigned in a Manhattan criminal court. An order of protection to keep away from Titus has been issued to Fagen after the incident.
Accordingly, Titus has decided to file a divorce from Fagen as per Page Six's report. The publication says that when Titus was asked for a comment regarding her husband's arrest, she said via phone, "I don't feel good. I'm very tired and I'm divorcing my husband." It remains unclear if the source is reliable.
Fagen and Titus got married back in 1993 after they met while attending Bard College back in the '60s. Fagen co-founded the band Steely Dan around that time with guitarist Walter Becker. The last album that the band has released is called "Everything Must Go," which was out last 2003. The band still tours regularly.
As for Titus, she also has a noteworthy music career as she released a lot of solo albums and collaborated with different artists and producers such as Paul Simon, Burt Bacharach, Cary Simon, Robbie Paterson, Phil Ramone, and more. She also helped in the production of her husband's "New York Rock and Soul Revue." This is a series of concerts featuring musicians from 1989 to 1992.
