Pakistan leg-spinner Yasir Shah suspended after caught cheating with doping drug

By

Pakistan's leg-spinner Yasir Shah was announced suspended from joining the next international cricket game after failing the dope test randomly conducted by the International Cricket Council or ICC on November 13th.

It was found out by the sample provided by the 29-year-old Shah in an in-competition test that he had violated the council rules by testing positive for the substance chlortalidone which is apparently included as a prohibited drug in the Section 5 of the WADA Prohibited List.

Doping substances are not allowed since they could falsely improve an athlete's performance which is considered cheating in its very logic. "In accordance with the ICC Anti-Doping Code, pending the outcome of the disciplinary process, Yasir has been provisionally suspended," concludes an ICC representative.

The spinner has been Pakistan's key player since his entrance in the game in 2011 raking in 76 wickets in 12 Tests and also became the fastest cricketer to complete 50 wickets in nine Tests coming out as a record for Pakistan. He has also played 15 one-day internationals and two Twenty20s after his debut.

Shah rose in the spotlight after the disqualification of his senior ace spinner Saeed Ajmal. He was a major contributor in his home country's win last year against Australia and played a big part for their 2-1 Test series win this year in Sri Lanka with 24 wickets.

Previously before his test, he was involved in an accident where he suffered a back problem while bowling in the nets and had to miss out on the first Test against England. Fortunately, he was able to join the second and the final Tests and helped beating England with a whopping 2-0.

Pakistan's cricket players have been marked with the history of using dope drugs with players Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif also had their results appear positive for ones of the identified banned substances back in 2006.

Being caught doping is not new in the said sport as shortly before Yasir Shah's provisional suspension, another player in Sri Lanka named Kusal Perera also tested positive for the presence of an equally banned substance and had to be pulled out earlier this December.
