Renee Zellweger gets candid about Bridget Jones’s Baby and her face’s merciless critics

Renee Zellweger once again fills in the shoes of fan favorite character Bridget Jones and talks about it and more as she and her fellow casts, Patrick Dempsey and Colin Firth, grace the cover of the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly.

According to EOnline, the actress reveals her alter ego is still single at 43, pregnant and unsure who the father of the baby is.

However, according to the actress, "It's so right to tell a story about Bridget in this stage of her life as this is part of the new challenge, discovering where she is now in her new life. But as an actress, it feels like stepping back with an old friend. I love this character, I like that she tells stories about what it's like to be a woman and these really relatable situations at certain times in life."

Renee also got candid when asked about the harsh criticisms she received when she stepped out on the red carpet last October 2014 from a very long absence. She was ridiculed for her different appearance and accused of having plastic surgery or just aging poorly.

However, according to an article published from The Daily Mail UK, the criticisms only helped the actress have less fear. "What good comes from knowing that something like that happened? Less fear. Sure," said Renee. She also admitted she never read any comments about her different look but was glad people have noticed her changes because she is truly "living a different, happy, more fulfilling life," and "thrilled that perhaps it shows."

It took 15 years since the first Bridget Jones movie instalment to begin production again and it already had people talking because of a "weight issue". According to Zap2It, Renee Zellweger made history when she graced magazine covers as curvy Bridget Jones back in 2000s than the usual skinny girls that parade magazine covers. This time however, Bridget Jones appears skinnier and many are reacting.

Director Sharon Maguire defends the decision saying, "We all really loved the notion that Bridget, 15 years [since the first film], had finally reached her ideal weight ... somewhere between a UK size 10 or 12 ... but still hadn't solved any of her issues about love and loneliness." Maguire further expresses that there's more to Bridget than her weight and its success could also be largely attributed to her fear of loneliness and how this is relatable to many people.

Bridget Jones's Baby will hit theatres September 2016.
