Lawrence Jones opened fire in a chicken plant in Frensa, California on Tuesday, killing one person and injuring four others before he shot himself.
One colleague was pronounced dead on the spot, while two others (including the shooter) were transferred to the Community Regional Medical Center. The third victim was released from the hospital since. Among those shot were two women of ages 34 and 32, as well as a male employee of 28.
According to reports, the 42-year-old Jones was an employee at the chicken plant called Valley Protein. He showed up to work and after a few hours on his shift opened fire and shot at his colleagues.
Police have not yet labeled a motive. The names of the victims have not been released either.
Police Chief Jerry Dyer told Yahoo News, "We're still trying to determine what provoked these actions...Employees told investigators that Jones did not appear to be himself when he came to work."
Jones, according to a report by Fresnobee, was working at "Valley Chicken," formerly known as "Apple Valley Farms," since 2011. He has a history of criminal records and was serving parole as he worked at the plant. He is currently in critical condition.
Chief Dyer called the incident, "a tragedy for the city of Frenso" he continued telling reporters at a news conference, "Our biggest hope is that there are not other victims out there," as reported by Fresnobee.com.
Police have issued a search warrant and continue to investigate the matter.
There were over 60 people present at the plant at the time of the shooting.
