The ladies of Fifth Harmony are building their merged girl power for their kick-off single entitled "She's My Girl" which was revealed to be written by the R&B singer-songwriter Tinashe while on tour with Katy Perry.
Following their hit debut album "Reflection," with its single "Worth it" peaking at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100, the impeccable vocal powerhouses are raising expectations with tidbits of their upcoming second album being the subject of talks in various news sites nowadays.
Billboard reveals that the girl group has hired some of music's biggest hit-makers and producers, including the Norweigan production duo Stargate, Mitch Allan and Jason Evigan, and Max Martin.
Additionally, the up and coming pop singer Tinashe who previously co-wrote "Them Girls Be Like" in the group's debut album also revealed in her interview with an online publication "Spin" that the song she wrote for the girls was chosen as the first title single for their next album.
The songwriter, apparently, scored points from the members themselves relative to how they could relate to her lyrics compared to other writers.
"She has really sick melody flows and lyrics," says member Lauren Jauregui. "It's very cohesive with us. It's drawing from the same experience. That's what's important at the end of the day: having an authentic sound and having someone who understands what we're going through."
She also praised her character and honesty commenting, "She's a necessary player in the game. I think honesty is such a lost value in this industry at this point, especially when you're dealing with mainstream pop. I think people have a hard time being true to themselves in the public eye - because people are so judgmental - but I really admire the fact that she does that and she doesn't give a f**k what people say."
The track title itself "She's My Girl" is being foretold to likely pass the Bechdel Test, which is a method used for analyzing how fairly and realistically a film depicts its female characters. It can also predict the success of a movie, a TV show, or a song.
Songs that pass the said test are those that do not talk about men or romantic love stories which are demonstrated by Rachel Platten's "Fight Song" and Sia's "Chandelier." Should this prediction come true, the girl group will be steering away from the romantic love theme of their first album that put them to stardom.
However, it would be good for a change to put halt on following the generic pop music that is released by almost all singers these days. Having very limited creative control in their first album, the members of Fifth Harmony can now showcase their unified women's power through their single "She's My Girl" to be released this January or February 2016.
