Mall of America seeks Judge to Stop ‘Black Lives Matter’ Protest; No Immediate Action from the Judge

By

Restraining order request is still in the works for Mall of America. 'Black Lives Matter' protesters will proceed to their protest no matter what the judge's decision is.

MPR News stated Hennepin County Judge Karen Janisch took no urgent action on the mall's request for a temporary restraining order to stop the protest. It was announced last week that 'Black Lives Matter' protesters are going to Mall of America on Wednesday despite the mall's attempt to stop it.

The organizer of 'Black Lives Matter', Kandace Montgomery, said the Mall of America is the center of capitalism. She added that it is the perfect symbol of how money and resources are misallocated in this state. While our schools are continued to be defunded, unemployment is in highest percentage and is rampant and equity funds are being cut, millions of dollars are going to Mall of America.

After the hearing in Hennepin County, Miski Noor, one of the organizers said they are not going to cancel the protest. CBS Minnesota said the protesters would never let the mall win; they will show up and speak for the truth and justice. The protesters goal is to display at the country's biggest mall and draw attention to police killing that happened in November 15, with a black man named Jamar Clark, 24, getting killed. The protesters also wanted the video of the shooting to be released but authorities say they won't release it because state and federal investigations are currently ongoing.

According to ABC News the mall wants to keep away from the type of disturbance caused by a thousand angry protesters during Christmas-time demonstration last year. The nonexistence charges concerning police killings of unarmed black men in Ferguson, Missouri, and New York City were the main reason of the protests. Forced temporary closure of mall stores occurred and many of people were arrested.

The 'Black Lives Matter' protesters want their demands to be met. Unless it is done they will continue with protesting at the Mall of America.
