Olympic Medalist Shaun White Vandalism Hearing Delayed by Nashville Judge

A judge in Nashville Tennessee has postponed the hearing of two time Olympic gold medalist, Shaun White, who was arrested last month for public intoxication and vandalism. The original hearing was scheduled for October 10, but the judge pushed the dates back for undisclosed reasons.

The 26-year-old snowboarder was arrested last month at a Lowes Vanderbilt Hotel in Nashville at 2.00 am on Sunday. According to the reports, White was found intoxicated when the police arrived at the scene, his refusal to sign a misdemeanor statement, led to his arrest. "He basically put himself in jail by not signing that," said a police to ESPN.com.

White allegedly pulled a fire alarm creating havoc in the Nashville hotel, after which White tried to leave, but when he was confronted by a guest who informed White that the police were on their way, the snowboarder kicked the guest and started running off. Police arrested White and released him Monday afternoon. The guest who was assaulted has refused to press any charges against the athlete.

A day after the arrest, White released an apology on his FaceBook page:

"I want to apologize for the unwise choices I made over the weekend and for any inconvenience it caused my family, friends, business partners, the hotel and their guests...I was celebrating a happy occasion with a ton of family and friends and got carried away. I'm truly sorry for my poor behavior," as reported by People Magazine.

White was attending musician Patrick Carney's wedding in Nashville.

White won two Olympic gold medals in the Winter Olympics in 2006 (Turin) and 2010 (Vancouver) at snowboard halfpipe competition. He runs a successful a video-game brand and also a clothing line.
