The popular online market removed the sale posting of a James Egan Holmes mask, which was posted earlier September. The mask, which is a very realistic imitation of the 24-year-old alleged shooter who opened fire in a Aurora movie house in Colorado, was auctioned for $500.
The person who posted the sales remains unidentified. The company removed the advertisement Friday after news of the sales started surfacing the Internet. Ebay released a statement: "Out of respect for victims of violent crimes, eBay does not allow listings that attempt to profit from human tragedy or suffering," as reported by 9.news.com.
The discovery was first made by Fox News 13. According to the site, a first-time seller posted a picture of the mask on September 2, and auctioned it at a starting price of $500. The entire description of the mask has been described as follows:
