One of Hong Kong's most successful real-estate businessman made an offer of $65 million to any man who can win over the heart of his lesbian daughter Gigi Chao and marry her. Cecil Chao Sze-Tsung made the offer in an interview with the South China Morning Post on Wednesday.
The 76-year-old billionaire said, "I don't mind whether he is rich or poor...The important thing is that he is generous and kind-hearted... he added,"Gigi is a very good woman with both talents and looks...She is devoted to her parents, is generous and does volunteer work," as reported by the Telegraph.
The 33-year-old Gigi, on the other hand, recently entered into a civil union with her lesbian partner Sean Yeung (also known as Sean Eav) of seven years. They were married in France. However, Cecil denies the reports of his daughter's civil union, telling the International Business Times that the news is just a rumor and is totally "false."
Cecil told BBC that he will not force his daughter into marriage. He told the Telegraph.co.uk that the offer of HK$500 million was merely "an inducement to attract someone who has the talent but not the capital to start his own business," and not a 'marriage bounty' as the media has started to call it.
Gigi told BBC that she "found her father's plan entertaining and would not worry about it until an actual suitor had been found."
Like her father, Gigi is also a successful real-estate mogul, in fact, she is the executive director of her father's real-estate company called Cheuk Nang (Holdings) Ltd. She is also the director of Haut Monde Talent, a model management and PR company in Hong Kong.
