Now that Apple finally launched its next generation iPhone on September 12, fans wait patiently for some time for the iPhone 5 to go on shelves for purchase. However, a recent report by CNET claims that Apple's new phone will not be limited to the major mobile carriers: AT&T, T-mobile, Sprint and Verizon, but could also be purchased through a pre-paid version via Cricket.
Cricket Communications Inc., better known as Cricket Wireless is a subsidiary company of Leap Wireless, which allows customers to buy pre-paid services, without having to be bound in a contract. The catch is that one must pay the full retail price of the phone, which would be ordinarily available at a cheaper price if purchased through a contract.
Although neither Apple nor Cricket Wireless has mentioned anything on the pricing for the pre-paid version for the iPhone 5, Apple did say that the new iPhone would cost the same as its predecessor 4S i.e. $499.
The iPhone 5 will be available with Cricket on September 28, a week after it hits shelves with the four major mobile service carriers on September 21.
After months of anticipation, Wednesday Apple's CEO Tim Cook and vice president of marketing Phil Schiller announced at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco Apple's latest smartphone - the iPhone 5.
Schiller told a room full of people, "It's an absolute jewel," as reported by Fox News.
The latest smartphone has features that most techies had already predicted. The phone is certainly wider and lighter than its predecessor- iPhone 4S.
Here are the important features of Apple's latest product:
1) Aesthetic: As predicted, the iPhone 5 flaunts a wider screen i.e. 4 inches. Its physical type is sleeker and lighter than the 4S, particularly 18 percent thinner and 20 percent wider than its previous model.
2) Wireless Compatibility: As Wall Street Journal among others predicted iPhone 5 has 4G LTE HSPA+, DC-HSDPA compatibility. The phone has 4G like its rival Samsung Galaxy S3 and others. According to Schiller the new model is two times faster than its predecessor, mainly credited to a new A6 technical processor.
3) Dock Connector, You're going to need new accessories- that was the rumor prior to the launch, now this rumor has been become a fact! Yes! iPhone 5 has a new dock connector, smaller than that of the previous iPhone. The new dock connector of the iPhone 5 is many pin ports less than any of the other iPhones in the past. While this sounds like an improvement what this essentially means that the accessories including chargers that iPhone users possess now will be rendered useless should they decide to up-grade to the latest iPhone
6) Camera: obviously the camera is an incredibly important aspect for the iPhone, or rather any smartphone for that matter. The iPhone 5 too has newer features pertaining to this function. Although it possess the same 8MP as its previous models, Schiller and Cook assured customers that the camera has new improved lower-light capabilities, along with quicker image capturing ability.
