VIRGINIA. - Who ever said love conquers all, sure said a mouthful, such is the love of 22-year Lauren Kornacki, who rescued her father by lifting a car under which he was trapped, removing his unconscious body from its traps and then giving him CPR - essentially saving his life.
Her sister, Kristen Kornacki, who witnessed the whole scene told CNN reporters, "She proceeded to lift up the car, pull him out and then give him CPR," as reported on CNN.com
Aleck Kornacki was in his garage working on his one and a half ton heavy BMW 525i, when the jack snapped and he was caught under the car. Soon he lost consciousness. Lauren, who is also a lifeguard swiftly ran to rescue, she lifted the car, pulled her father out from underneath it and performed CPR before he was taken to the hospital.
"It flashed like, 'I'm going to lose my dad. His eyes were open; he wasn't responding to me. I knew I had to get his heart beating again, and I had to get him breathing," the 22-year-old told Fox 19 reporters.
Alec Kornacki is currently in the ICU of the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center, "healing fantastically...He is walking and talking and laughing and joking. He's feeling pretty good," she said. "He's Superman, that's for sure," according to his family, who told CNN News reporters. He suffers from no permanent damages and is expected to have a smooth recovery.
Upon gaining consciousness, he said to the daughter who rescued him "Thank you for saving my life," later telling reporters at Fox 19, that she "just smiled her blue-eyed smile, and that was it," as reported by Yahoo News.
The family released a video to CNN, which can be viewed here.
