By

On Wednesday, the gymnasts of Team USA received a call from President Barrack Obama who congratulated the five women for bagging the gold medal at the 2012 London Summer Olympics.

"I told these young ladies, as I was congratulating them: 'How do you not bust your head every time you're on that little balance beam? I couldn't walk across that balance beam... I have to tell you, when I'm watching-when people run track, you know, I understand. I know how to run, they're just much faster. And I know how to swim, they just swim much better than I do," the president told a group of supporters in a campaign rally in Ohio, as reported by Yahoo News, he added "And we could not be prouder of them and everything they're doing on our behalf," (yahoonews.com).

The president spoke to each player, applauding them on their individual strengths and quirks. Here's what the president said to each player (yahoonews.com):

To Douglas: "You just tore it up. I know how hard you worked to get there...Keep at it. Stay cool."

To Maroney: "Way to nail that vault. It was unbelievable."

To Reisman: "Michelle and I have watched and decided of all the Olympians you guys amaze us the most."

To Wieber: "I'm so impressed by how you bounced back and led the team. Tell your parents I'm proud of them, too. I don't think I could watch if I were them."

To Ross: "You were really steady...impressed by how cool you were. I don't know how you do what you do-especially the balance beam."

On Tuesday, the US Gymnast team won the Gold medal at the London games; it was the first Gold win for the nation in that department since 1996, 16-years! The "fab five" as they have come to be called is made of 17-year-old Jordyn Wieber, 16-year-old Gabrielle 'Gabby' Douglas, 18-year-old Alexandra 'Aly' Raisman, 16-year-old McKayla Maroney, and 15-year-old Kyla Ross.

Tuesday's win is just the beginning. From August 5 till August 7, the girls will participate in various individual events. Gabby will compete in uneven bar finals, and also balance beam finals along with team-mate Aly; McKayla will be in the vault finals, Jordyn and Aly will be in floor exercise finals.
