Apple recently released its quarterly report, which indicated that the company's stocks fell 2.9 percent to $600.92, despite selling 28 percent more of the iPhone 4 than last quarter. The loss can be easily attributed to the increasing rumors that the iPhone 5 will soon be available.
Peter Oppenheimer, Apple's chief financial officer, seems to be sure that this is the reason for Apple's low sales. He tells the New York Times, "We're reading the same rumors and speculation you are about a new iPhone."
One cannot help, but see that the low sales might just be a precious harbinger for Apple, indicating that many people are holding back purchases in hopes of the new phone.
Timothy D. Cook, Apple's chief executive, told the New York Times, "I'm glad people want the next thing...I'm not going to put any energy into trying to get people to stop speculating."
Last week, Verizon presented a similar hurdle, when the company declared its financial reports, Francis J. Shammo, the CFO told analyst that many customers were holding back on upgrades because "There is always that Rumor Mill out there with a new phone coming out in the fourth quarter. And so people may be waiting," as reported by computerworld.com.
The humdrum is increasing around the iPhone 5: when will it be released? How will it be better from its predecessor? Most speculators in the tech world have reached a consensus that the next generation iPhone will be coming to stores this fall.
The Wall Street Journal released reports claiming inside information that the phone will flaunt a thinner body, wider screen and a new touch-screen technology.
According to the report, the latest iPhone screen will contain a new in-cell design in which the touch-screen sensors are embedded within the LCD screen, the new technology allows for higher quality graphics. The technology also permits the body of the phone to be more slender than its predecessor.
The reports coincide with the buzzing word that the greatest and most obvious change to the next generation Apple smartphone is likely to be its screen. Earlier this week, a Taiwanese blog called apple.pro allegedly leaked photos of the much talked about smartphone. The photo shows the alleged iPhone 5 to be slightly longer that its predecessor, iPhone 4S.
The iPhone 4 has a screen of 3.5, but Samsung's Galaxy S3, whose sky rocketing popularity is prompting the alleged early release of the new iPhone has a screen of 4.8 inches. The Washington Post reports, "it's likely that Apple's going to pump up the screen size. But, since Apple is a company that prizes usability, it's unlikely that the phone will get too big for the majority of consumers to use one-handed."
In the end, all that's been said about the iPhone 5 is all speculations and calculated guessing. It is important that Apple has not even mentioned the creation of iPhone 5 let alone its release date. However, this hasn't stopped people from predicting.
