Jon Benet Ramsey Case: James Kolar, lead Investigator, Publishes New Book

By

On Thursday, James Kolar, former lead detective in the Jon Benet Ramsey murder case, in which the six-year-old was found murdered in her basement, has written a book that provides an insider's take on the mystery that continues to haunt the nation.

The book is titled "Foreign Faction: Who Really Kidnapped Jon Benet?" supposedly after the ransom note found in the Ramsey house, which was signed by a "small foreign faction." The book traces the murder mystery that started out as a missing person's case, when the six-year-old beauty pageant queen went missing on December 26 of 1996. Later her body was discovered in the basement. All police were left with was a ransom note.

A number of theories started burgeoning, including one that named the father as being involved in the murder. Although, John Ramsey was later cleared on DNA evidence in 2008, he was never really vindicated from the collective consciousness of the public. Kolar's book again hints to this theory. He tells Fox News, "By the time I parted company with the D.A.'s office, I was convinced that there was no significant possibility that an intruder had been involved in the death of Jon Benet."

Kolar says that all the evidence suggests that there couldn't have been any intrusion; this means that the killer had to have access to the house.

The case was reopened in 2010 with no success.

Kolar was dismissed from the case due to a tussle with the Boulder District Attorney Mary Lacy, who had hired him in 2004.
