Heiress Death: Was her Billionaire Husband Involved?

By

Metropolitan Police Spokesman told ABC News that Hans Kristain Rausing, son of a Swedish billionaire, might be suspected in the death of his wife Eva Rausing, whose body was discovered in the couple's London house Monday.

Initially, Rausing was arrested on drug charges, but then upon his arrest the body of his American-born wife Eva Rausing was discovered. The cause of death has yet to be announced. In a report Wednesday, police say that the post-mortem report failed to reveal a certain cause of death. However, although news that the billionaire was questioned Thursday with regards to his wife's death has made waves, police have not yet confirmed the alleged inquest.

Hand was arrested on count of reckless driving then police discovered drugs in his car. His arrest ultimately led to discovery of his wife's body. In the past, both husband and wife have had a long struggle with drug abuse. Eva, 48, was arrested in 2008 for smuggling cocaine and heroin into the U.S. Embassy in London. Later police found more drugs in their home and arrested Hans as well.

"It's very clear to us Eva had her own problems with drugs and drugs misuse," the head of an anti-drug organization told CNN News.

The couple was very active in various charity projects, particularly in philanthropy regarding children with drug and substance abuse problems.

The parents of Eva released a statement: "During her short lifetime she made a huge philanthropic impact, supporting a large number of charitable causes, not only financially, but using her own personal experiences...She bravely fought her health issues for many years," as reported by Huffington Post.

Hans Rausling is heir to the international manufacturing company, the Tetra Pak, which produces laminated drink containers. He is 49. Reports suggest that he is still in police custody and is receiving medical attention there.
