Nelson Mandela’s Daughter Ambassador to Argentina

Zenani Mandela-Dlamini, the daughter of famous political fighter and South African president Nelson Mandela, has been appointed as South Africa's ambassador to Argentina.

The appointment is of great significance, since economic between the two nations has reached a new level of importance. According to the Associated Press, bilateral trade relations between the two states have reached a $1.3 billion per year mark, which according to a statement released by the South African government "demonstrates the high potential for both economies," as reported by the Associated Press.

Zenani is the oldest of Mandela's three children with Winnie Madikizela-Mandela. The 53-year-old studied at Boston University. She has two children with her former husband -Thumbumuzi Dlamini, a swazi pricnce. Zenani has been present in the public eye from an early age.

The Argentinean Foreign Ministry expressed happiness with her appointment, telling Reuters, "During the presidency of Nelson Mandela, recognized as a global figure for his fight against apartheid and for human rights, Zenani accompanied her father to act as first lady of her country."

Nelson Mandela, the iconic anti-apartheid fighter for which he served 27 years in prison after which he was elected president of South Africa between 1994-1999. The 1993 Nobel Peace prize laureate will turn 94 next month.
