75 percent of Americans Want Some Kind of Healthcare Reform

By

WASHINGTON.- In a new poll by Associated Press-GfK three-fourths of Americans want some kind of political healthcare reform regardless of the Supreme Court's decision on the Obama health care plan.

The poll indicates that 75 percent of Americans do not want the health care issue to be left alone, they want some kind of change in the existing system, this opinion is seems to be as strong among republicans as in democrats.

The G.O.P has not mentioned any healthcare agenda in its plans, while President Obama, who has allegedly expressed his doubt on how the court will rule, has admitted that he would be willing to revise his plan if overturned by the court as a whole or in portions

On the other hand, earlier this week, Nancy Pelosi ,U.S. House of Representatives told CBS Friday Morning that she is certain the Supreme Court will uphold the constitutionality of the law, since "we're ironclad on the constitutionality," as reported by AP. She even specified that the Justices are likely to uphold it by a 6-3 vote. However, she revealed nothing about how she came to that conclusion.

However in a poll conducted by CBS News and New York Times earlier this month, the numbers revealed that most Americans want the Supreme Court to overturn Obama's health care plan. The poll showed that 48 percent of Americans disapprove of the plan, while only 34 percent approve of it. According to the National, the numbers show a five percent drop in approval since April.

The polls also revealed that 41 percent of citizens want the bill to be abolished completely, while 24 percent want the bill to be upheld in its original entirety. 27 percent would approve the plan if the individual mandate clause was removed, as reported by the National.

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, better known as Obamacare, is a federal statute regarding health care that has been a point of controversy ever since President Obama signed it in March of 2010. One of the fundamental points of discourse is the individual mandate clause that forces an individual to buy a health care plan or incur financial penalties.
