VANCOUVER, Canada. - Luka Rocco Magnotta, who is suspected of killing and then dismembering the body of his lover, has finally arrived in Canada after being extradited from Germany. The 29-year old Canadian porn star is the key suspect in the murder of Jun Lin.
Magnotta was transported from Germany to Montreal in a military plane. Canadian Justice Minister Rob Nicholson confirmed his arrival to BBC News. Nicholson also thanked the German authorities "for their swift and decisive action in this matter," as reported by BBC News.
The Chinese foreign ministry spokesman, Hon Lei, released a statement "to do justice to the victim," as reported by AP.
After allegedly murdering Lin with an ice pick, Magnotta defiled his body and sent the various body parts to political party headquarters and two schools in Vancouver. Last month, packages containing human limbs were recovers in Vancouver, Police Commander Ian Lafreniere told BBC News that "They were the same limbs we were looking for," referring to the missing body parts of 33-year-old Jun. Investigators also claim that Magnotta had eaten some of the victim's body parts.
Earlier this month, Magnotta was arrested in Berlin after an employee in a cyber café recognized him from the newspapers. Magnotta had fled to Paris, France and then to Berlin, Germany. The capture of Magnotta was a huge victory for police enforcement. According the Montreal Gazette, the police Commander of Montreal called the search for the alleged killer "the biggest in the Montreal force's history." The search has since involved Interpol and 30 investigators from France's national fugitive search unit.
Commander Lafreniere claimed that head of the body, which is a crucial piece of evidence to the case, is still missing.
