Although the exact date the Supreme Court will rule on the healthcare plan is equivocal, the fact that it is soon approaching is undisputable. The Supreme Court will rule on the plan within the next two weeks, before it goes into recess.
While President Obama allegedly expressed doubt on how the court may rule in a recent private fund raiser, U.S. House of Representatives, Democrat Nancy Pelosi, told CBS Friday Morning that she is certain the Supreme Court will uphold the constitutionality of the law. She even specified that the Justices are likely to uphold it by a 6-3 vote. However, she revealed nothing about how she came to that conclusion.
The party whip said that the "we're ironclad on the constitutionality," according to AP. She also expressed her confidence in the people's sentiments towards the bill telling the network that people are already benefiting from some of the its features.
However, in a recent poll conducted by CBS News and New York Times last week, the numbers revealed that most Americans want the Supreme Court to overturn Obama's health care plan. The poll, showed that 48 percent of Americans disapprove of the plan, while only 34 percent approve of it. According to the National, the numbers show a five percent drop in approval since April.
The polls also revealed that 41 percent of citizens want the bill to be abolished completely, while 24 percent want the bill to be upheld in its original entirety. 27 percent would approve the plan if the individual mandate clause was removed, as reported by the National.
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, better known as Obamacare, is a federal statute regarding health care that has been a point of controversy ever since President Obama signed it in March of 2010. One of the fundamental points of discourse is the individual mandate clause that forces an individual to buy a health care plan or incur financial penalties.
