Famous Horse-Racer is a Major Drug trafficker?

By

The Trevino brothers who ran the famous horse breeding brand are actually major drug traffickers in Mexico. They have been allegedly hiding under the disguise of horse breeders of national-level winning stallions in America. These allegations come from the U.S. Justice Department Tuesday morning.

According to the New York Times, the two brothers Miguel Angel Trevino Morales and Jose Trevino Morales ran a highly prominent horse breeding ring called Tremor Enterprises. The operation was rising to fame by churning out winner stallions. According to the article, it had won three of the country's biggest races, with prizes worth $2.5million. The brothers bought an enormous ranch in Oklahoma and around 300 stallions and mares.

However, behind the scenes, the two brothers were actually running a huge drug-cartel ring in Mexico by the name Zetas. Tremor Enterprises allowed them to hide and launder the drug money.

Morris Panner, former prosecutor who handled drug cases said: "Maybe they were using some kind of perverse logic that told them they could hide in plain sight, precisely because people wouldn't believe it or question it," as reported by the New York Times.

The arrest happened in a large show with helicopters and agents raiding Tremor this morning and arresting several along with Jose Trevino.

The New York Times, who were the first to break the story, had been working on the case since December 2011, but cooperated with the police by withholding publishing before the arrests were made.
