Identities of Victims in the Sandusky Case to Be Revealed

By

Today Judge in Sandusky case, which will begin this month, denied victims' request for anonymity. This means the identity of the victims will be made public at the commencement of the trial.

The alleged victims, who up until now, were identifies with numbers, will now be publicly mentioned by first and last name in court. The court will not provide or be responsible for the protection of these eight victims.

According to Good Morning America, four of the eight victims had petitioned the court for secrecy; Sandusky and his lawyers did not oppose to the request of the victims, but Judge John Cleland felt the victims had a responsibility to the public to make their identities known.

Cleland told abc network "While I will make every effort to be sensitive to the nature of the alleged victims' testimony, once the trial begins the veil must be lifted."

58-year-old Jerry Sandusky has been charged with 52 counts of sexual abuse and molestation of young boys during his reign as football coach at Penn State University.

The victims will testify to these allegations in front of Sandusky. The trial is set to begin on June 11.
