Sandord, Fla. - George Zimmerman's bond was revoked Friday after judge said that Zimmerman and his wife had misled the court regarding their financial capabilities to post bail. The court ordered him to return to jail within the next 48 hours.
Circuit judge Kenneth Lester said "He can't sit back and obtain the benefit of a lower bond based upon those material falsehoods," as reported by USA Today.
Bond was set for $150,000 in April after Zimmerman and his wife, Shellie, testified to the court that they did not have sufficient funds to post bond, however it was discovered that Zimmerman had raised $135,000 through a website he set up.
Prosecutor Bernie De la Rionda told Fox News, "This court was led to believe they didn't have a single penny. It was misleading and I don't know what words to use other than it was a blatant lie."
However, defense attorney Mark O'Mara told the network, "There was no deceit."
Zimmerman is charged with the shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in February while on watchman duty. Zimmerman claims that the shooting was an act of self-defense and claims not-guilty to second degree murder.
