Judge to Release Romney’s Divorce in Staples Founder Divorce Case: Maureen Sullivan Stemberg and Gloria Allred Concur

By

A Massachusetts judge on Thursday granted the petition of The Boston Globe to release the 1991 testimony of presidential candidate Mitt Romney in the divorce case of the founder of Staples.

Earlier this week, Maureen Sullivan Stemberg, ex-wife of Stemberg and her lawyer Gloria Allred said they do not object to the newspaper's request to release Romney's testimony.

An unnamed source revealed to RadarOnline, "Ms. Allred's client feels that the public needs to know about Governor Mitt Romney's role in this very important case. Governor Romney is running for President of the United States and this goes to a very important character issues."

Tom Stemberg, founder of Staples, has endorsed Romney on various occasions on his presidency campaign. Hence, his testimony in the Stemberg case is necessary to be exposed to the people, argued the Boston Globe and the judge agreed.

The Globe, which filed a motion in court to remove the impoundment earlier this month.

Romney's business Bain Capital played a crucial role in setting up the huge office-supply retail Stapes in 1996. According to the Huffington Post, Bain Capital was one of the early investors in Stemberg's company and Romney remained on the company's board for over ten years.

Stemberg even appeared at a Romney convention, in which he endorsed the former governor of Massachusetts saying, "He never looked at Staples as merely a financial investment. He saw the engine of prosperity it could become... why would an administration that can't create any jobs demonize someone who did?" as reported by the Huffington Post.

Lawyer of Romney, Robert Jones said that he wants to review the court documents and his client's testimony before the court makes a decision, but says that he will likely have to objection if the court decides to publish the documents.
